Recently, the world media has been flooded with such sad news: Chuck Berry, the great artist of the United States (born 1926) died. For most of us, once again, yet another silver-headed singer-songwriter whose youth, for some reason, was forgotten mentioned until death. However, it can’t be denied that today’s rock music world would not have existed in its present form without Berry’s appearance.

A lot of people still keep thinking that rock music was found by the boys of the band The Beatles (UK). In fact,the Liverpool’s legendary quartet, like the young Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones members, directly copied the rock’n’roll performances of senior artist Chuck Berry many years ago.

It was Berry who was the first artist to add to the traditional soft and pleasant sound wave of young music with new, crazy, vibrant melodies and outstanding guitar harmony on other instruments. It can be said with certainty that there would never be a lack of this motif in the writings of the pioneer Berry.

Chuck Berry began his musical adventure in the late 40s. Chuck was playing blues, but he soon began experimenting with other sounds as well. Mainly thanks to T-Bone Walker, the first artist to incorporate electric guitars into blues, Berry has a great passion for electric guitars.

A few years later Chuck was the first black artist to join a concert in Missouri, the show introducing a music genre called ‘Hillbilly’ which was still dominated by white artists. The lack of goodwill to see the black artist playing the original electric guitar quickly passed when the public witnessed Berry’s skills.

Chuck Berry is also the author of many successful songs performed by famous bands. One of them is ‘Johnny B Goode’, an autobiographical song about the artist’s youth and Berry’s path to glory. Performers of this  masterpiece including the legendary band The Beatles, as well as Jimi Hendrix, Judas Priest, Elton John, Sex Pistols, and even the famous Australian hard rock band AC / DC!

The father of rock’n’roll, musician and singer Chuck Berry (1926-2017) is also one of the best guitar artists in history. Berry left many immortal songs such as Maybellene (1955), Roll Over Beethoven (1956), Rock and Roll Music (1957) and Johnny B. Goode (1958).

In 1986, Chuck Berry was one of the first artists to be honored at the Rock’n’roll Hall of Fame. He is also ranked 5th on the list of 100 greatest artists voted by the prestigious music magazine Rolling Stone.
